My 9 month old son was it all over his face. How can i clear it up?
You should consider the person who suggested it was an allergic reaction. Is it just on his face or around his diaper area, too? Does it come and go? Are you nursing? My daughter would break out really bad, too. The doctor gave us a prescription for hydrocortisone (sp?) cream. Before I ever used the cream, though, I realized that it happened or got worse every time I had oranges or orange juice. She was getting it through my breast milk.

my infant has baby acne. how do i treat it? and what causes it?
My daughter was born last July, and about two or three weeks later she developed quite a bit of acne on her cheeks. I was really concerned about it, wondering if I should put something on it, so I asked the pediatrician and he said just to leave it alone. He said that if you put any sort of ointment over the affected area, it could clog her pores even more, making it harder to get rid of. It ended up completely going away after just a few weeks! Hope that helps

We picture our baby’s skin to be perfectly smooth and flawless when we bring them home from the hospital, although, that’s not always the case. A lot of parents are surprised to see that their little one has acne at such a young age. Everyone gets acne at some point in their life, but babies tend to get it early on in the first few weeks or so. So, what causes the acne to develop?
Spit ups – If you haven’t noticed already, babies tend to spit up a lot. Not to mention, the spit gets all over their face which can then clog their pores. Saliva has a lot of germs in it, so if this happens on a regular basis, it is easy to see why your baby may have acne.
Laundry detergent – Some detergents may leave your baby’s skin irritated and make it break out more easily. Try switching detergents to see if this makes a difference at all.
Touching – It happens to every baby, we touch them, rub their face, kiss them, etc. All this action it’s probably another reason why babies get acne. Their little pores get clogged by our dirty hands.
Hormones – Hormones may be another issue when it comes to acne. Right before birth, your baby may pick up on the mother’s last hormones. Hormone levels will probably be all over the place, just like teenagers are. Hence, teenagers get the most acne.
There are a few different possibilities when it comes to what’s causing your baby’s acne. Although, it’s totally normal, not your fault, and is something almost every baby goes through. It takes time and is just a phase. If you think that the problem is worse than most babies, you can always make an appointment to meet with a doctor to discuss your baby.
