So I drool when I sleep. I cannot help that, it’s because I sleep on my stomach with my head to the side and I’m a mouth breather when I sleep due to chronic congestion problems.

I’ve almost always had acne problems on my chin, but lately more and more I’m noticing that it’s happening in a pattern… and that pattern is, directly from the corners of my mouth down!! It goes like in a line!

So my only thoughts are that the drooling is aggravating it. I know that this is common, for drool to cause baby acne… so why the heck can’t it be causing mine?

What I need from you all, is a solution… do i put vaseline on my chin and then cover it with something? (so as to repel the drool, whilst saving my pillowcase from the vaseline stains) Or do you have any other ideas?? If I just put like gauze or tissue on my chin, that won’t work well enough becaue the drool will just saturate it, and will end up making things worse because it will stay wet.
No, I’m not British. I had no idea the word ‘whilst’ was on the British side of the english language.

Anywho, I think I will make an appt with a dermatologist, but they take months to get in to see. So what could I try in the meantime? I like the idea of brushing and using a good mouthwash directly before bed and putting some acne lotion on. I think I’ll switch to white pillowcases, which won’t get damaged by acne lotion.

Any other ideas? And thanks everyone for your quick answers! I didn’t expect any answers yet, and there were 5 already!!
I meant to add that, yes, I likely do have sleep apnea. I’ve not been tested for it though. I suppose I should go ahead and make the appt for a sleep study while (hehe, not whilst), I’m making the derm. appt.

Thats actually really cool. I always thought that saliva could dry out acne but I guess if you think about it saliva has bacteria in it and the mouth is the most dirtiest place on your body (belive it or not). So i guess it makes sense. Tyr brushing your teeth and rinsing with some good mouth wash before you go to bed. Also put some acne lotion on your face so that there will be a layer of protection while you sleep. Vaseline might make it worse.

my son is also 3 weeks

they get acne because of the changes in their hormone levels after birth. it is the same principle as why teenagers get acne – just a change (increase/decrease) in hormonal levels. it will usually go away in a few weeks and is usually nothing to worry about at all. my daughter got acne at about 3 weeks old and had it until she was about 2 months old.

http://www.VanishEczema.net When it comes to treating and managing eczema, sufferers have many choices. You may have heard that home remedies work, but do they? Although our bodies are all different, they have proven effective for many. That is just one of many reasons why home remedies are recommended for the treatment of eczema, continue reading on for five more.

Reason #1 Affordability

When using home remedies to treat eczema, you may need to purchase a few supplies, but they are pretty affordable when compared to prescription medications. Moreover, you may already have what you need inside your home. In that case, no additional money is needed to seek relief. http://www.VanishEczema.net

Reason #2 No Doctors Visits

Not only does avoiding the doctor save you money, but it also eliminates a major hassle. If you work outside of the home or are a parent, you must arrange time off from work or childcare. Dont lose money or time with your kids. Home remedies enable you to treat your eczema from home and with ease. http://www.VanishEczema.net

Reason #3 Many Choices

Home remedies are treatment options you can do at home. For eczema, you have many choices. Something as simple as locking in moisture with lotion after a bath is considered a home remedy, as is drinking plenty of water. Other home remedies include wet wraps, oatmeal baths, oatmeal pastes, and diet changes. With many home remedies to choose from, you are sure to find an easy to implement remedy that works. http://www.VanishEczema.net

Reason #4 Fewer Risks

Home remedies for eczema are used as alternatives for prescription medications and some over-the-counter products. Many sufferers opt for home remedies because they are safer. There are fewer risks and side effects. Your goal is to seek treatment, not have other medical issues and complications to deal with too. http://www.VanishEczema.net

Reason #5 You Have Nothing to Lose

As previously stated, most home remedies for eczema are affordable, safe, and you have many choices. Most importantly, you are able to avoid the hassle of regular doctors appointments. With these benefits and a high rate of success in many eczema patients, what do you have to lose? Nothing. If you havent already tried home remedies to manage and treat your eczema, try them. Chances are you will like the end result.

I’ve been reading on here about baby acne, I’ve never heard of it. What causes it and why does it happen to babies?

My baby has pimples on his chin. Could it be acne?
Yes, it could. Baby acne is very common. It can be present at birth, but more often it shows up after a couple of weeks, usually on the cheeks and sometimes on the forehead, chin, and even the back.

These small whiteheads might be surrounded by reddish skin. They can become more pronounced when your baby is hot or fussy or if his skin is irritated by saliva, spit-up milk, or fabric that’s a little rough or that’s been washed in strong detergent.

By the way, if your baby had tiny bumps on his face at birth that disappeared within a few weeks, these are called milia and they’re unrelated to acne. If the irritation looks more rashy or scaly than pimply or it appears elsewhere on his body, your baby may have another condition, such as cradle cap or eczema.

What could be causing my baby’s acne?
As with adolescent acne, there’s no clear answer. For some time, experts have pointed to the hormones babies receive from their mother at the end of pregnancy as a cause of baby acne. But researchers continue to study other factors and have yet to agree on one culprit. If you take certain medications while nursing, for example, or if your baby takes certain medications, they might trigger baby acne.

How long will it last?
Baby acne usually clears up within a few weeks, but it can linger for months. If it doesn’t clear up within three months or you’re concerned about it, talk with your baby’s doctor.

What can I do about my baby’s complexion in the meantime?
Well, there are some things you should not do. Don’t put creams or oils on your baby’s skin, because these can make the acne worse. Don’t use over-the-counter acne medicines. And don’t scrub. Baby acne isn’t caused by dirt.

In fact, too much washing can further irritate your baby’s skin, so don’t overdo the cleansing. Simply wash your baby’s face with mild baby soap and water once a day. Gently pat it dry.

Patience is usually the best course of action. Your baby’s

i have washed my 3 week old baby’s face 3-5 times a day, and it just seems want to stay there and grow some more. i have also tried different soaps and make sure i have clean face or mouth before i kiss him. could he be allergic to some kind of fabric or dust?

First, baby acne is completely normal and not harmful at all. If you scrub your baby’s face, stop and just wash lightly.

Here is an excerpt from Drgreene.com:

o many parents’ dismay, their beautiful newborn’s face breaks out with red bumps. This is called baby acne. It tends to occur at about the same age as the baby’s peak gas production and fussiness. How attractive! (This all coincides with parents’ maximum sleep deprivation.) Parents are often quite concerned both about how these bumps look and about their significance.

These bumps, Beckie, are quickly fleeting evidence of the connection between your body and your son’s. During the final moments of your pregnancy, your hormones crossed the placenta into your son. Among other things (such as maturing his lungs), this stimulated the oil glands on your son’s skin, eventually giving rise to the baby acne.

Fleshy or red pimples can be present at birth, but typically appear at 3 to 4 weeks of age. They occur predominately on the cheeks, but are also quite common on the forehead and chin. Whiteheads are sometimes present. This condition tends to come and go until the baby is between 4 and 6 months old.

The acne will be most prominent when your son is hot or fussy (increased blood flow to the skin), or when his skin is irritated. If his skin comes into contact with cloth laundered in harsh detergents, or becomes wet from saliva or milk that he has spit up, the condition may appear worse for several days.

Gently cleanse his face once a day with water, and perhaps a mild baby soap. Oils and lotions do not help, and may aggravate the condition. If the acne is severe or lasts beyond 6 months, your pediatrician may prescribe a mild medicine to help.

Otherwise, you can expect that the rash will soon be a memory. The oil glands will disappear, and you won’t see the acne again until you turn around once, and he’s a teenager. This time the acne will be evidence that his own hormones are turning him into a man.

It’s normal!!! My baby is almost 7 weeks and is still getting over his baby acne. It’s due to hormones and there’s really nothing you can do for it. Per my pediatrician’s advice, I do use Cetaphil soap to bathe him which has helped his skin but truly time will make it better.

what are some of the causes and any remedies to get rid of it. It just started to show up since I have had to feed her formula cause of a reaction to antibiotics in my milk, that I am taking for a infection. She had to be switched between 3 diffrent formulas and now is on the Simalac Alimentum Advanced. She is doing well on it but the Acne and pimples are getting more.
am using Dreft soap for babies. The Ped. told me its the most hypo allergenic and softest of all soaps.

Baby Acne is caused from the change in hormones since her birth. Don’t do anything. They will go away soon.
