female with 2 kids. tried several antibiotics – developed resistance, tried oral contraceptive dianette – acne got worse when i came off, dont want to try roaccutane cos its too many scary side effects. is there anything out there that will work? i had hormones tested and they r ‘normal’ but think my acne worsened after the baby.

I had such bad acne at one time that I isolated myself from the world – it covered my entire face – I mean BAD. I had no option other than go with Accutane, which helped me a great deal, however now I have to deal with a lot of floaters in my eye. (Worth it though…)

Now that I am in my 30′s, the one thing that helps me when I go through a breakout is taking a wash cloth (like an old scratchy towel), applying hot water onto it and adding a touch of sea salt. Lightly rub this onto your face —not hard! Do this for about 5 minutes or so. Let your face dry naturally, you’ll feel it tightening up and then, apply a light dermatology tested lotion on your face and keep doing this every 3 days at night. It has helped me a great deal. I would check with your doctor, antibiotics never did a thing for me. I totally feel your pain. You also might want to see if you are allergic to a certain food.
Best of luck!

My 3 month old month son has got baby acne on his face. He got it first when he was three weeks old. Doctor told us not to use any treatment. The outburst of acne was severe … it lasted for several weeks. In fact his face is not completely clear eversince. Now two days back he’s again getting same outburst of acne all over his face ! Doctor told us to ignore it this time too.
I know that baby acne clears on its own between four to six months. But I’m really irritated to wait that long. Firstly because those acne produces itchy sensation for my son. Secondly, till now there’s not a single day since he does not have acne on his face. I can’t wait any longer to take close up snaps.
Moreover these are not just few bumps on his face … its quite severe !!
Please help … does hydrocortisone cream help ?
Helpless mom.

Love and accept your baby the way he is! I can’t believe you are going to be vain about your newborn! Take pictures, this is what your child looks like right now, don’t be ashamed! It will go away on it’s own, you DO NOT put hydro-cortisone on a newborn!!! What are you going to tell him, Mommy didn’t want your acne to show in your pictures so I didn’t take any close ups of you???? I was ashamed of how you looked?

I just read about the dangers of salicylic acid when pregnant and so far I have used this topical acne treatment only 3 times during my pregnancy and am hoping I didn’t do anything to hurt the baby? Is this ok?
I am definitely not using it anymore but am wondering if I could have already caused some damage to my baby?

Acne

Maintain a routine. Most acne treatments take time to work. It usually takes between two and eight weeks before you see any significant improvement, so you are going to have to be patient. Once you’ve gotten your acne cleared up, it’s important to continue with the treatment that’s working so it does not return.

If all else fails, contact a doctor. Mild antibiotics that are available only by prescription can help reduce acne. Keep in mind though, that the widespread overuse (taking antibiotics when you really don’t need them or for something they don’t treat) and misuse (not taking medication for the specified amount of time) of antibiotics has led to the development of multiple antibiotic resistant bacteria. That means that the antibiotics won’t work for the things they used to (including your acne).

Keep hair off of your face if at all possible. If you want to keep your bangs, then consider taking showers regularly or keeping your forehead clean with oil-dabbing cloths / clean tissues / etc.

Technically at the end of 3rd week of my pregnancy, I went for a high frequency beauty treatment. In the 5th week I went for a whitening treatment. All without knowing that i am pregnant. Can this harm my baby? Please detail your knowledge on this and I am grateful.

It shouldn’t do any harm if you just did it once but I wouldn’t do it again without speaking to your doctor. Also just in case let you doctor know exactly what you did.

Baby Acne Prevention | Treatment

Prevention of Baby Acne:

The generally accepted thought on baby acne prevention is that there’s little you can do to prevent baby acne. The best baby acne prevention treatment is usually no treatment at all.

Most studies suggest baby acne is brought on by hormonal fluctuation in their mother right before child birth. Normal baby acne is nothing to worry about and will disappear on its own in a few months time.

There is another type of baby skin disorder that most people misdiagnose as acne, that causes small whiteheads. These small bumps are called milia. They are painless and disappear on their own within one or two months.

Below is an article with more information about what actually causes the problem and what you can do to help alleviate baby acne.

Dealing With Baby Acne

By Michael Russell

Baby acne is actually quite a common affliction among newborn babies. In fact, more than 20% of newborn babies are affected by baby acne. Baby acne is not a serious problem and, with the proper care and treatment, can be alleviated quite easily and effectively. If your baby is affected by baby acne, it is a good idea to understand what it is.

The maternal hormones that cross the placenta during delivery and stimulate the baby’s sebaceous glands cause baby acne. These hormones irritate the baby’s oil glands and cause pimple-like bumps all over the baby’s skin. Other causes of baby acne can include any medications the baby may be on, or any medications a nursing mother may be taking. Usually, baby acne occurs on the baby’s face, neck, chin and back. Baby acne typically looks like a pimple, or whitehead and is surrounded by reddish skin.

Baby acne typically appears anytime between the time of delivery and three weeks of age. It has been found that male babies are more prone to baby acne than female babies, however, it does occur in both sexes. Usually, baby acne resolves itself by the age of four months. Baby acne will not leave any scars on your baby’s skin, however it can be extremely irritating and itchy for the baby.

Baby acne is treated very easily. It is advised that parents gently wash the baby’s face with a mild soap and water at least once a day. Do not scrub the baby’s skin and always pat it dry instead of rubbing. However, be sure not to over-wash the baby’s skin too much. Remember, baby acne is not caused by dirt, so over-washing can irritate it further. It is also recommended that parents avoid applying any type of lotion or oil to the baby’s skin, as those products could possible worsen the baby acne problem.

Additionally, washing anything that the baby may come in contact with, including the baby’s clothing, blankets, towels and bed linens in a mild detergent is also important.

If baby acne is more severe, some pediatricians will recommend over-the-counter drugs such as hydrocortisone cream, to treat the skin condition. The most effective over-the-counter treatment for baby acne is actually an ionic colloidal silver solution. It is safer than other creams and kills the bacteria that can cause baby acne. The ionic colloidal silver solution can also promote healthy skin growth and reduce the uncomfortable itching caused by baby acne.

It is important that you do not use any over-the-counter medications for adult or teenage acne problems on the baby’s skin. These medications are too strong for the baby’s tender skin and can even further irritate the baby acne.

The occurrence of baby acne is not necessarily determined by a family history of acne. Baby acne is simply a hormonal reaction within the baby’s body shortly after birth of the baby’s hormones reacting to maternal hormones. Additionally, the occurrence of baby acne will not affect or influence the onset of acne in adolescence.

Hi

In my opinion and experience if you want to treat your acne forever you must learn how you should fix the internal problem that’s causing your acne, not just masking the symptoms or getting relief.
There are only few decent Ebooks and acne cure programs that can teach you exactly how to cure your acne from the inside.

Where medicine has failed them the authors have done their own research and found a way to overcome acne. In their guides they share their great knowledge with other acne sufferers. Anyhow, be very careful because many of them are pure crap with little value.

You can learn about one of the best guides that helped many people to treat their acne naturally in this helpful article:
