  • i have had 2 babies and acne returns each time. only gets better in pregnancy. tried over the years many antibiotics, the pill, creams, chinese medicine, homeopathy, all failed. acne returns when stop.dont want to take roaccutane cos too many side effects. tried evening primrose oil – made acne worse.

    Hi

In my opinion and experience if you want to treat your acne forever you must learn how you should fix the internal problem that’s causing your acne, not just masking the symptoms or getting relief.
There are only few decent Ebooks and acne cure programs that can teach you exactly how to cure your acne from the inside.

Where medicine has failed them the authors have done their own research and found a way to overcome acne. In their guides they share their great knowledge with other acne sufferers. Anyhow, be very careful because many of them are pure crap with little value.

You can learn about one of the best guides that helped many people to treat their acne naturally in this helpful article:

  • She is 4 weeks old. Is this common for babies this age? What causes baby acne and can I do anything to get rid of it?

It’s normal!!! My baby is almost 7 weeks and is still getting over his baby acne. It’s due to hormones and there’s really nothing you can do for it. Per my pediatrician’s advice, I do use Cetaphil soap to bathe him which has helped his skin but truly time will make it better.

  • I just found out through another question that using topical acne medicine is not safe for pregnancy. That’s somthing my doctor never mentioned! I’m 24 weeks pregnant and have been slathering on proactive acne treatment all over my face and chest on a daily basis. What could happen to the baby? If you know good medical sites to reference that would be helpful.
i tried googling it but the websites were vague, they advised not to use it but didn’t say what would happen….
Ok I found a site that kinda gives some answers. Here’s what it said:
Every pregnant woman who developed acne during her pregnancy should avoid products that contain hydrocortisone, sulfacetamide, and tretinoin. Furthermore, products that contain hydrocortisone, adapalene, azelaic acid, or salicylic acid should also be avoided, because there has not been enough research done to determine their safety for use during pregnancy.

The majority of these ingredients have been scientifically proven to be safe to use topically during pregnancy, however, there are risks associated with the use of some of these medications. Topical creams that contain sodium sulfacetamide should not be used during the later stages of pregnancy. Studies have found that this can lead to newborn toxicity, resulting in anemia, jaundice, and kernicterus. Studies show that it is safe to use this medication, topically, during the first two trimesters of pregnancy.
Topical creams containing tretinoin must be avoided during pregnancy. In a study, the infants born to women who had used topical acne cream containing this substance during the first trimester had an large number of birth defects.

As for topical acne cream during pregnancy that contain hydrocortisone, adapalene, azelaic acid, or salicylic acid, there have not been sufficient studies done to determine the risk to the fetus. When considering a topical acne cream during pregnancy, be sure to discuss this with your doctor, to ensure that you are doing everything that you can do to protect your baby.

I just did a live chat on the proactive site with "Sarah" She said proactive clenser and lotion is safe during pregnancy but to be sure to discuss it with my doctor anyway.

The main active ingredient listed on Proactiv is Benzoyl Peroxide. There are no warnings about using the product during pregnancy on the container, I just checked my bottle from the shower.

I discontinued using the cleanser twice a day when I became pregnant (I don’t use all three steps in the system, just the first one) and cut it down to once daily in the shower now. I haven’t seen or heard of anything confirming the dangers of benzoyl peroxide during pregnancy, but to be on the safe side I might just cut it out all together now that I’m in the third trimester.

This would be a great question to ask an ob/gyn!

  • what are some of the causes and any remedies to get rid of it. It just started to show up since I have had to feed her formula cause of a reaction to antibiotics in my milk, that I am taking for a infection. She had to be switched between 3 diffrent formulas and now is on the Simalac Alimentum Advanced. She is doing well on it but the Acne and pimples are getting more.
am using Dreft soap for babies. The Ped. told me its the most hypo allergenic and softest of all soaps.

Baby Acne is caused from the change in hormones since her birth. Don’t do anything. They will go away soon.

  • My 9 month old son was it all over his face. How can i clear it up?

You should consider the person who suggested it was an allergic reaction. Is it just on his face or around his diaper area, too? Does it come and go? Are you nursing?

My daughter would break out really bad, too. The doctor gave us a prescription for hydrocortisone (sp?) cream. Before I ever used the cream, though, I realized that it happened or got worse every time I had oranges or orange juice. She was getting it through my breast milk.
